DAY 1: Pick up from Park inn View hotel, Nyumbani Hotel, Altezza lodge, Keys Hotel, Patmos Hotel, Stella Maris lodge, Bristol Cottages, West East Lodge, Jutland lodge, The Hibiscus bed and breakfast, Kilimanjaro safari lodge or any other hotel of choice at 8:30 am and drive along the rich agriculture farms with banana plantations being the main attraction. After the paper work, start the hike. The trail enters a wonderful mountain rainforest with very old trees, ancient ferns, liana, lichen and moss that carpets the ground and drapes from the trees. You can spot the beautiful black and white colobus monkeys in the treetops on a lucky day. The hike will take 5 to 6 hours to Machame Camp which is located just above the tree line at 3,010 meter. Dinner and overnight stay in tents.
DAY 2: After breakfast, take the path that steepens and the landscape changes into moorland, heathland and the open landscape allows you to see the exciting mountain range. With picnic lunch en-route, arrive at Shira Camp. The camp has an incredible view of the mountain and during sunset, the sun lights the rock face and glacier of Kibo. Dinner and overnight in the camp
DAY 3: After breakfast, begin the hike with a long ascent above the Shira Plateau in the direction of the Lava Tower 4,640 meter. Lunch is served at Lava Tower camp. The vegetation becomes sparser as the landscape changes to an afro-alpine desert. The route passes through the wide Barranco Valley with its lobelia and giant Senecio plants. After a 6 to 7 hours walk, you will arrive at the most stunning camp on the mountain – the Barranco Camp.
DAY 4: After breakfast, start with the climb of the “Barranco Wall”. Follow the ridge as it traverses up and down, you can enjoy the splendid views of the south glacier of Kibo. Lunch will be served at Karanga Valley Camp, followed by a 2 to 3 hours climb to Barafu Camp 4,640 meters. An early dinner will be served to give you time to rest and recover in readiness for the summit.
DAY 5: After hot tea / coffee and light snacks, assault the summit at midnight. Climb the screes of Kibo for 5 to 7 hours of ascending in the dark to Stella Point 5,756m, the crater rim of Mt. Kilimanjaro. Another 1 to 2 hours climb along the crater ridge will lead you to Uhuru Peak (The Roof Of Africa) 5,895 meters. Weather permitting, see all the glory of Kilimanjaro, enjoying the 360° view over the landscape below as the sun rises. Descend to Barafu Camp, where the porters and the cook will be waiting for you. After a warm meal and a well-deserved break of approximately 1 to 2 hours, you will be on your way down to Mweka Camp 3,080 meter for dinner and overnight.
DAY 6: After breakfast with a traditional farewell ceremony from the mountain crew, descend for 2 to 3 hours’ through the rainforest continues to Mweka Gate, where you collect the certificate. Meet the driver and drive back to Key’s Hotel, Park View Inn Hotel, Mbugani Hotel or any other hotel of your choice in Moshi. After a warm shower, celebrate your achievement with dinner at Indoitaliano restaurant. The tour ends here!
